Dr. Anwar Gargash, advisor to UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, stated that the UAE is unlikely to join the proposed International Stabilisation Force in Gaza, citing a “lack of a clear framework.”

Speaking at the Abu Dhabi Strategic Debate, as reported by Sky News Arabia, Gargash noted, “Without a defined framework for peacekeeping, the UAE is unlikely to participate in such a mission.”

The proposed multinational initiative aims to disarm militant factions, dismantle military infrastructure, maintain law and order, secure the Egyptian border, and safeguard humanitarian corridors and civilians within Gaza.

In another speech at the forum covered by Al Khaleej newspaper, Dr. Gargash emphasized that “stability cannot be achieved through military means.” He highlighted the UAE’s influential role in shaping the international response to the Gaza peace plan, focusing on political and humanitarian strategies over military action.

He described the recent Arab and international support for the US-led Gaza peace initiative as a “historic opportunity” to address long-standing issues exploited by extremists.

“Last year, I highlighted that the human toll of political decisions in our region was escalating, with hesitation and division often costing innocent lives,” he mentioned.

On October 22, Khaleej Times reported Gargash asserting that annexing Palestinian land would be a “red line” for the UAE.

He reiterated the UAE’s commitment to a two-state solution as the “only path” to enduring peace.

“The UAE is committed to the Arab and international vision of a viable Palestinian state,” he stated. “While we may have concerns about management, it does not contradict our stance. Any annexation would be a red line for the UAE.”

Gargash also mentioned the UAE’s significant role in Gaza’s reconstruction, stressing the need for political clarity. “We aim to assist in every possible way, but the UAE’s role will adapt based on future prospects,” he said. “If a clear path to a long-term Palestinian state emerges, our role will naturally expand. I discussed with a Dutch colleague about Gaza’s reconstruction efforts, emphasizing that true investment requires long-lasting peace.”
