The UAE’s Operation Gallant Knight 3 recently facilitated a site visit for media and stakeholders to observe the ‘Lifeline’ water supply project in southern Al Mawasi, Khan Younis. This area, one of Gaza’s most densely populated, offers refuge to many displaced families.

The visit aimed to track the project’s progress and evaluate its impact on families, particularly children and the elderly, benefiting from the new water supply.

A new 7.5-kilometre pipeline extends from Emirati desalination facilities in Egypt’s Rafah to Al Mawasi in southern Gaza. It is designed to assist 600,000 Palestinians by supplying 15 litres of fresh water per person daily, mitigating a severe water shortage affecting residents for months.

The ‘Lifeline’ project aims to ease the struggles of a community facing frequent water outages and extreme heat. By delivering clean, safe drinking water, it protects public health and lessens the daily challenges for displaced families, who have lacked a functional water network for months.

This initiative builds on prior UAE efforts to resolve Gaza’s water crisis, including constructing desalination plants, supplying water tankers, drilling wells, and maintaining water infrastructure. The UAE has also launched other urgent infrastructure projects to provide ongoing humanitarian aid and meet essential needs.
