Yashina explained that Ukrainian forces shelled the vicinity of the station’s fuel depots on Tuesday, causing a fire in the dry grass about 400 meters from the diesel fuel tanks. The station’s press service confirmed that there are no threats to the core infrastructure, noting that radiation levels within the station and surrounding areas remain within normal limits.

Yashina added a warning that these attacks are extremely dangerous and pose a direct threat to the safety of the nuclear plant.

It is noteworthy that the station, located on the left bank of the Dnieper River near the city of Enerhodar, is the largest in Europe in terms of the number of units and production capacity, as it contains six reactors, each with a capacity of one gigawatt. In October 2022, control of it was transferred to Russia.
