On Friday, the United Nations formally announced a famine in Gaza, marking the first occurrence in the Middle East, with experts indicating that 500,000 individuals are enduring “catastrophic” levels of hunger.
Following prolonged alerts regarding the worsening humanitarian conditions, the Rome-based IPC panel confirmed that famine is now present in the Gaza Governorate, specifically in Gaza City, encompassing roughly 20% of the Gaza Strip.
