On Friday, the United Nations officially declared a famine in Gaza, marking the first of its kind in the Middle East. Experts have reported that 500,000 people are facing “catastrophic” hunger.
Following months of warnings about the worsening humanitarian situation, the Rome-based IPC panel confirmed that famine is now present in the Gaza Governorate, Gaza City, which encompasses approximately 20 percent of the Gaza Strip.
