Forget the grand events with celebrities and dazzling performances. The ‘United in the Emirates’ event in Dubai on Sunday, November 23, redefined the concept of spectacular with its meaningful, inclusive, and emotionally moving display.
Nearly 60 individuals, aged seven to 34, with developmental conditions like Down syndrome, global developmental delays, and autism, took the stage in a heartwarming, life-affirming performance.
Organized by G3Enable, founded by Gayathri and Shankar Subramanian, this initiative opens doors to creative and performing arts for differently-abled individuals. It was a testament to determination and talent.
Love, Patience, and Possibility
The event’s true magic lay in the dedication of participants, parents, and trainers. For the founders, whose journey began with their daughter with special needs, the event was a dream. The audience witnessed a miracle as 22 participants performed surya namaskar in perfect harmony.
Mary Leo and Priyesh Uthman trained the participants over 10 months, connecting through love and patience. Priyesh realized he was learning as much from them as he was teaching.
Talent Beyond Limits
The energy and love were evident during rehearsals. Shankar Subramanian highlighted the decision to integrate creative arts into their daughter’s life, leading to the establishment of G3Enable. It became a haven for differently-abled individuals to explore their talents.
Children danced flawlessly to ‘Savage Daughter,’ showcasing discipline and dedication. Ancy Alexander, a dancer who overcame cerebral palsy, trained them, proving that with effort, anything is possible.
Strength in Every Step
G3Enable participants are carving their paths in a world still learning to embrace them fully. Their performances, including a vibrant band and a moving duet dance by Vignesh and Ananya, showcased their exceptional talents and the power of inclusion.
Volunteer Ashita Mehta emphasized the limitless potential of these children. Gayathri credits her team, volunteers, and parents for making inclusion a reality.
From Abhishek Nair’s soulful rendition of the UAE national anthem to a diverse fashion show, the event was a testament to the enduring impact of determination.
