UptexBank Launches in GCC: Revolutionizing Digital Banking

The Gulf region is witnessing a new wave in digital banking with the introduction of UptexBank, a pioneering fintech company based in Oman. This institution aims to streamline international transactions for both individuals and businesses. The official launch took place on October 12, 2025, at Dubai Fintech Surge, marking its entry into the GCC market.

UptexBank strives to revolutionize cross-border banking by enhancing speed and transparency through advanced technology and strict regulatory adherence. It offers digital banking solutions tailored for businesses, freelancers, and individuals requiring seamless multi-currency accounts and cost-effective transfers.

Founded in alignment with the GCC’s Vision 2030 objectives, UptexBank focuses on economic diversification, entrepreneurship support, and digital transformation acceleration. The founders emphasize that financial inclusion and efficient cross-border connectivity are vital for sustainable progress.
“The Middle East has long been a center for trade and innovation,” stated a spokesperson for UptexBank.

“However, modern cross-border banking remains complicated and costly. UptexBank was established to offer a quicker, more affordable global financial solution.”

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are crucial to the GCC economy, significantly contributing to the non-oil GDP. Yet, many SMEs find traditional financial services lacking. UptexBank addresses this with multi-currency accounts, instant transfers, and transparent FX rates starting at 0.2 percent.
“Approximately 60% of the UAE’s non-oil GDP is generated by SMEs,” noted Amir Fada Ghuloom Abbas Al Ajmi, executive manager of Uptex.

“Despite their impact, few financial services cater specifically to them. We created Uptex because we recognize the substantial losses SMEs face annually due to FX rates and cross-border payment fees. Our mission is to simplify, accelerate, and equalize finance for business owners and freelancers across the GCC.”

UptexBank is licensed in Oman, the UAE, and Canada, ensuring transparency and client protection. In Oman, it’s authorized by the Central Bank of Oman and the Capital Market Authority for digital banking and securities services.

In the UAE, it operates under full regulation through a partnership with Direct TT for Financial Consulting L.L.C., overseen by the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA).

In Canada, it holds registration as a Money Services Business (MSB) with FINTRAC.

Following its initial launch in Oman and the UAE, UptexBank intends to expand into Saudi Arabia and other GCC nations by 2026, with further global expansion slated for 2027.

Businesses and freelancers can now register for early access to the platform.
