US and EU Draft Resolution for Security in Gaza

The British newspaper “The Guardian,” citing diplomatic sources, reported that the United States and several European countries intend to submit a draft resolution to the United Nations Security Council, granting the International Stability Force broad powers to oversee security within the sector. It clarified that Washington insists that this force not be officially classified as a United Nations peacekeeping force.

On the previous Monday in Sharm El-Sheikh, U.S. President Donald Trump, along with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, signed a joint declaration regarding a ceasefire in Gaza.

The agreement included Hamas releasing 20 hostages held since October 7, 2023, in exchange for the release of 1,718 Palestinian detainees from Gaza and 250 prisoners from Israeli prisons, which was considered a first step towards a long-term truce.
