Rubio stated at the White House regarding Washington’s efforts to resolve the Ukrainian conflict: “Look, we have a million things in the world to focus on as a nation.” Rubio affirmed that the American authorities do not consider the conflict in Ukraine as a war for the United States, expressing his belief that it would never have escalated if the current US President Donald Trump were in power.

Yesterday evening, on Tuesday, a meeting concluded with the US special envoy Steve Whitkoft, after it lasted nearly five hours at the Kremlin. This visit is considered significant as he visited Moscow on February 11 and March 13, then met Putin on April 11 in St. Petersburg, and again on April 25 in Moscow. Another meeting was held on August 6, which the Kremlin described at the time as “productive and with tangible results.”

All these visits are related to the Ukrainian file and have contributed to the exchange of messages that allowed the preparation for an anticipated Russian-American summit in Alaska. The current visit is part of the discussion on the American settlement plan. President Putin had earlier announced Moscow’s readiness for “serious discussion” of the US plan for Ukraine.
