The spokesperson for the embassy confirmed, in a statement reported by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that this news is inaccurate. He explained that the timeline for the conclusion of the international coalition’s mission against ISIS (a terrorist organization banned in Russia and internationally) in Iraq is proceeding as agreed in the joint statement issued on September 27, 2024.
He pointed out that the Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve is still continuing its work according to this schedule, paving the way for the coalition’s mission to transition towards ending military operations, according to Iraqi News Agency (INA).
He added that this development is part of the natural shift of the coalition’s mission towards establishing a more traditional bilateral security relationship with Iraq.
Reports today, Friday, mentioned that US forces will begin withdrawing from the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, tomorrow, Saturday.
