The case involves a reservist soldier, according to Israeli media reports. The police stated in an official statement that the primary suspect, Maor Krengel (26 years old, from the city of Holon), was arrested last August on charges of communicating with Iranian intelligence agencies and carrying out security tasks based on their instructions. Investigations revealed that since the beginning of 2025, Krengel had established contacts with Iranian entities and executed a series of tasks that included photographing military bases and public places.
The Israeli police indicated that “Krengel attempted to recruit other individuals to work for Iranian intelligence, leading to the arrest of a second suspect, Tal Amirim (26 years old, from Holon), on charges of communicating with a foreign agent and carrying out tasks under their direction.” The Israeli newspaper “Yedioth Ahronoth” reported that Krengel was a reservist soldier while committing these acts and had taken a personal initiative to communicate with the Iranian entities.
Investigations continue to uncover additional details about the case. Meanwhile, Iran denied these allegations and responded with its own attacks. The two sides exchanged strikes for 12 days, with the United States joining Israel’s side and launching a solo attack on Iranian nuclear facilities on the night of June 22.
Subsequently, Iran launched missile attacks on the American “Al-Udeid” airbase in Qatar on the evening of June 23, declaring that “Iran does not intend any further escalation.” It was also announced that “Israel and Iran agreed on a ceasefire, which will officially end the 12-day war.”
