Sa’ar made this statement to journalists following a meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington, describing the meeting as “very good.” The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, “Minister Sa’ar met with his American counterpart Rubio in Washington and thanked him for standing by Israel,” noting that the ministers discussed various challenges and opportunities in the Middle East and the war in Gaza ahead of the United Nations General Assembly.

The US State Department clarified that “Minister Rubio discussed with his Israeli counterpart the key issues in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria, and the importance of countering Iran’s malign influence.” The department noted that “Minister Rubio reaffirmed to his Israeli counterpart the United States’ unwavering commitment to Israel’s security and reiterated the close cooperation between the two countries, which is vital for ensuring security and prosperity in the region.”

Earlier, JD Vance, Vice President under Donald Trump, stated that he does not understand the actual meaning of recognition “given the absence of an effective government there,” according to his statement during a meeting with British Foreign Secretary David Lammy in southern England. Britain has taken a tougher stance towards Israel, announcing its intention to recognize a Palestinian state, alongside France and Canada, to pressure Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the ongoing conflict and humanitarian crisis in Gaza, according to Western media.

When asked about Britain’s plan to recognize a Palestinian state, Vance replied that the United States and Britain share a common goal to resolve the crisis in the Middle East. He said, “Britain and America may differ on how to address the crisis in Gaza, but they share a common goal to resolve it.”

Vice President JD Vance’s visit to Britain comes amid increasing interest in Vance’s views on foreign policy, as he emerges as a key figure in the Trump administration and a potential candidate for succession. It is noteworthy that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated last month that Britain would recognize a Palestinian state at the United Nations General Assembly in September unless Israel agrees to a ceasefire in Gaza and takes steps to end the dire situation in the sector.

Earlier, French President announced that he decided to officially recognize the State of Palestine before the United Nations General Assembly in September. Macron said in a post on his “X” platform account: “In keeping with its historic commitment to achieving a just and lasting peace in the Middle East, France has decided to recognize the State of Palestine.”
