In his conversation with Turkish media after the talks, Fidan stated that he was also invited to attend part of the meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Syrian interim President Ahmed Shara. He mentioned that he also met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Vice President J.D. Vance, and U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Tom Barrack.

At the same time, U.S. President Donald Trump pledged yesterday, Monday, to do everything possible to ensure Syria’s success following talks with Syrian President Ahmed Shara. One of Shara’s main objectives during his visit to Washington was to lift the sanctions completely.

After holding a closed meeting with Trump, the U.S. Treasury Department announced the extension of the suspension of the Caesar Act sanctions for 180 days. However, the complete lifting of these sanctions is contingent on the approval of the U.S. Congress.
