Women’s Role in Development Highlighted at Conference

The conference aimed to highlight the pivotal role of women as active partners in development and future-making, providing a practical platform to enhance economic cooperation among businesswomen in the region. As discussions commenced in the workshop ‘The Role of Women in the Arab Renaissance,’ their political, economic, and social contributions were reviewed. Important sessions were dedicated to discussing ‘Trade Liberalization Policies and Opportunities to Enhance Investments Among Women,’ which culminated in practical initiatives aimed at empowering women’s projects.

The conference did not overlook the importance of soft power, featuring a special session on ‘The Role of Media in Shaping the Image of Arab Countries,’ with participation from prominent media figures and influencers. In her speech, Mrs. Aoun reaffirmed her belief in the ability of Lebanese and Arab women to lead positive change in their communities.

A standout event was the signing of a memorandum of understanding among businesswomen from Lebanon, Syria, and Jordan. This memorandum aims to establish a framework for economic cooperation, unify expertise to support women, and create an investment fund dedicated to small and medium-sized women’s projects. This step is considered foundational for enhancing regional economic integration and benefiting from promising investment opportunities in these countries.

Speakers, including the Minister of Economy and Trade, Dr. Amer Bassat, emphasized that Lebanon stands at a pivotal juncture and that this conference represents an opportunity to present a positive image of Lebanon as an investment destination, and of Arab women as a true force for change. The ‘I Am Arab Lebanese’ conference concluded its activities, leaving a clear mark not only through inspiring discussions but also through tangible initiatives it launched, representing a message of hope that recovery and renaissance in the Arab region can be achieved through empowering women and opening avenues for cooperation and partnership among them.
