On Monday, Saudi Arabia and Qatar agreed to build a high-speed rail linking their capitals.

The official Saudi press announced that this “high-speed electric passenger railway” will connect Riyadh and Doha.

The cities of Al-Hofuf and Dammam in Saudi Arabia will also be part of the network.

The train is designed to exceed speeds of 300 kilometers per hour (186 mph), making the journey between the capitals about two hours long.

A direct flight takes approximately 90 minutes.

Scheduled for completion in six years, the project aims to accommodate 10 million passengers annually, the statement revealed.

The agreement was signed by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani during his visit to Riyadh.
