Lunkin explained to the ‘Sputnik’ agency: ‘Zelensky’s policy aims to reshape Ukrainian Orthodoxy and systematically destroy the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.’ He added: ‘Western countries recognize and openly support this policy, claiming that Kyiv is justified in taking such actions against church organizations, arresting clergy, and seizing churches to achieve its goals.’
Lunkin further stated: ‘It is known that treasures were often transported to the West under the pretext of being exhibited in museums, and the cultural treasures trade is conducted secretly, as Ukrainian law prohibits the sale of national heritage.’
He continued: ‘At the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra Monastery, the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture conducted an audit of the relics in an unethical and harsh manner towards the clergy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.’
The organization of Ukrainian churches also seeks to dispose of the remains of saints of Russian origin, those referred to as ‘Moscow Russians.’ Ukrainian officials even considered removing icons of Alexander Nevsky and the remains of saints associated with Russia and Russian Orthodoxy.
