90% of Gaza Buildings Destroyed Amidst Ceasefire

Western media reported today, Wednesday, quoting Tess Ingram, Communications Director at UNICEF, that 9 out of every 10 homes in Gaza have been destroyed. This means that 90 percent of the buildings in the sector have been destroyed or damaged, according to the agency, which noted that the majority of Gaza’s residents now live either in houses without walls or cannot find their homes and live in tents.

Dozens of humanitarian organizations have started intensifying their operations in conjunction with the resumption of aid entry into the Gaza Strip, following the cessation of the war between Israel and Hamas. The organization states that essential materials in the sector, such as food, clean water, medicine, and hygiene products, are on the verge of running out, while hundreds of thousands of displaced families live in overcrowded tents and harsh humanitarian conditions.

Relief agency sources indicated that delivering aid will face major challenges, including restrictions imposed by Israeli authorities on the amount of supplies allowed to enter, as well as the extensive destruction of roads and neighborhoods that hinders access to many areas within the sector. Footage shows the authorities removing rubble, searching for missing persons, and attempting to facilitate the arrival of aid to the sector’s residents.

From October 7, 2023, to October 15, the war on Gaza resulted in the deaths of about 68,000 Palestinians, in addition to more than 170,000 injured, according to data from the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, including cases discovered after the war ceased.

It is noteworthy that US President Donald Trump announced the end of the Gaza war during his visit on Monday, as he signed with his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, and leaders from Qatar and Turkey, the Gaza agreement to end the war and exchange prisoners during the Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit hosted by Egypt with the participation of more than 20 countries.
