According to the latest data released by the British Ministry of Justice, 91 prisoners were mistakenly released during the period from April to the end of last October. The Minister of Justice, David Lammy, offered a formal apology before the House of Commons on Tuesday, emphasizing that the release system needs radical reform. He mentioned that three of these cases are confirmed, while a fourth potential case is under investigation. Lammy explained that two of these three cases occurred in August and December of last year, while the third case was recorded in June of this year. Last Friday, British authorities announced the launch of independent investigations to determine the causes of these errors. Among the mistakenly released prisoners, 87 were convicted of violent crimes against individuals, and three others of sexual offenses. According to the Ministry of Justice, these errors may result from administrative mistakes, errors in calculating the sentence duration, or mistakes in documents issued by the courts or relevant authorities.
