He expressed his deep appreciation for the workers in humanitarian organizations in the Arab region and around the world, who face risks to provide support to the innocent, especially children and the elderly, amidst crises and disasters, according to the Middle East News Agency.

In his discussion of the crisis, Aboul Gheit described the situation as “the most appalling humanitarian disaster in modern times,” pointing to “the ongoing Israeli blockade and starvation policy targeting more than two million Palestinians, amidst a severe shortage of food, medicine, and water.”

He criticized the international community’s silence on the worsening famine and the continuation of the war that is destroying infrastructure and forcing residents to migrate.

He also renewed the Arab League’s commitment to supporting Arab peoples affected by crises through its specialized ministerial councils, praising the humanitarian efforts of Arab countries.

Aboul Gheit emphasized the importance of respecting international humanitarian law and the Fourth Geneva Convention, and the necessity of protecting humanitarian workers from assaults, to ensure they can perform their duties in a safe environment.
