In a statement obtained by ‘Sputnik,’ Abu Al-Gheit described the attack as a blatant and unacceptable violation of Qatar’s sovereignty. Jamal Rushdi, the official spokesperson for the Secretary-General, clarified that since the beginning of the war on Gaza, efforts have been made in collaboration with Egypt and the United States as mediators to negotiate a ceasefire. He highlighted Doha’s sincere efforts to stop the genocide being waged by Israel in Qatar, emphasizing that this attack represents a flagrant breach of an Arab state’s sovereignty.
He criticized Israeli behavior, describing it as ‘outside all international norms and principles of international law,’ holding the international community accountable for addressing these violations that ignore laws and challenge international standards. Earlier today, the Israeli army stated in a statement: ‘The IDF and the Shin Bet, through the air force, recently conducted a precision-targeted operation against the leadership of the movement.’
The statement added: ‘The leaders targeted have led Hamas’s terrorist activities for years and are directly responsible for the actions of October 7, 2023, and managing the war against Israel.’ The Israeli army continued in its statement: ‘The army and Shin Bet will continue to act firmly until the Hamas organization responsible for October 7 is eliminated.’ Earlier, Israeli Army Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir threatened to eliminate Hamas leaders abroad amidst the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip.
