Abu Dhabi Police launched a new initiative on Saturday to help reduce traffic black points on driving licences, coinciding with their participation in the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX).

ADIHEX 2025, the region’s premier event celebrating hunting, equestrian activities, and heritage while embracing modern technology, commenced on August 30 and will continue until September 7 at the ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi.

The police authority in the capital announced on X the introduction of the service and encouraged the public to attend their traffic workshops and courses at the ADIHEX booth located in Hall No. 12.

How to Reduce Black Points?

The new initiative features two programs:

  • Drivers with 24 black points can regain their licences by registering at the booth, paying Dh2400, and attending a rehabilitation course for traffic offenders.

  • Drivers with 8 to 23 black points can have 8 points deducted by registering, paying Dh800, and attending the course.

Black points are penalties imposed for significant traffic violations, with the point count reflecting the offence’s severity. Accumulating 24 points within a year leads to licence suspension.

The UAE Ministry of Interior recently launched the ‘A Day Without Accidents’ initiative nationwide on August 25, marking the new academic year’s start.

As part of this initiative, drivers who pledged on the official MOI website and recorded no violations on that day will have four black points removed from their licences.
