The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX), a leading and rapidly growing exchange in the Middle East, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) to strengthen cooperation between the UAE and Hong Kong capital markets.
This new MoU builds on their longstanding relationship, dating back to their first agreement in March 2007.
Signed at the Investopia Global – Hong Kong forum, the MoU was witnessed by Mohammad Alhawi, Undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Investment, and Paul Chan Mo-po, Financial Secretary of Hong Kong SAR, emphasizing the partnership’s crucial role in boosting financial ties between the two regions.
The agreement aims to enhance ADX’s global presence and connectivity by facilitating market access and co-developing products and services that cater to investors’ evolving needs. This move underlines ADX’s commitment to strengthening ties with international markets.
ADX and HKEX will collaborate to increase their capital markets’ visibility by hosting joint events such as roadshows, seminars, training, and investor education activities.
Both parties will explore dual listings, cross-border financing, and investment facilitation, along with potential collaboration on exchange-traded funds and ESG-related products to enhance market connectivity and widen opportunities for global investors.
Abdulla Salem Alnuaimi, ADX Group CEO, stated: “Our MoU with HKEX reinforces the robust relationship between Abu Dhabi and Hong Kong, marking a significant step in ADX’s global integration. By promoting cross-listings and innovative products, we will expand investment opportunities and liquidity, strengthening Abu Dhabi’s role as a dynamic financial hub.”
Bonnie Y Chan, HKEX CEO, commented: “We are pleased to deepen our ties with ADX through this MoU, following ADX’s recognition last year. This arrangement enhances cross-border connectivity and capital flow between Hong Kong and the Middle East. We aim to unlock investment opportunities and strengthen market infrastructure to meet global issuer and investor needs.”
This strategic collaboration opens new paths for issuers and investors, offering diverse instruments and strengthening resilience, highlighting the shared commitment of ADX and HKEX to innovation, open capital flows, and connectivity between global financial centers.
