Artificial intelligence is set to revolutionize how we consume content, according to Omar Al Olama, the UAE’s Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications.

He expressed that while watching movies made by others is an exciting option, the real allure lies in using AI to control our own storylines.

“Given the choice between watching a pre-made movie or interacting with its content to alter the plot, what do you think will captivate people more?” Al Olama remarked at the BRIDGE Summit’s inaugural media event.

In the future, Al Olama predicted, individuals will prefer crafting their own versions of beloved shows. He highlighted interest in being able to determine a movie or show’s outcome, citing the fantasy series The Lord of the Rings as an example.

“If I could become one of the characters or experience it in more immersive ways, all of that will be made possible by artificial intelligence,” the minister shared.

A Glimpse into the Future

Al Olama mentioned Netflix’s recent plans to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery, suggesting it represents a shift in streaming’s direction. He noted this could be “an indicator of future trends.”

He further stated this acquisition illustrates how “technology-driven companies will increasingly absorb those that lack technological integration.”
