In today’s world, where software development was once dominated by costly agencies and rare talent, AI is reshaping the landscape.
Mukund Jha, co-founder of the AI-driven no-code platform Emergent, envisions the future of software creation being driven by natural language rather than traditional coding.
Jha explained how Emergent empowers small business owners and entrepreneurs to develop fully functional software applications without writing any code, and at a fraction of the conventional costs.
“We’ve seen quotes from development firms ranging from $50,000 to $70,000,” Jha stated. “With Emergent, they are creating equivalent solutions for less than $2,000—entirely on their own.”
The platform’s recent funding round aims to propel its mission forward. Jha mentioned that the funds would be allocated to expanding Emergent’s global reach, growing its team, and heavily investing in R&D. “Automating the entire software development cycle is challenging,” he noted. “A significant portion of our investment is directed towards research to build superior platforms.”
Emergent is also targeting the UAE as a crucial growth market. Given the country’s strong emphasis on AI and digital transformation, Jha sees it as a natural fit. “AI is a top priority in the region, and tools like ours empower individuals to engage in that transformation,” he said. “Approximately 60–70 per cent of the apps built on our platform are AI-native.”

While the platform has primarily catered to small businesses so far, Jha anticipates larger enterprises will begin using Emergent for internal tools and rapid prototyping. The aim is to shorten the innovation cycle and make software development accessible for everyone.
When questioned about the emerging view that “the days of coders are over,” Jha embraced the bold assertion.
“We are entering an era where English is the new programming language, and prompting is the new coding, with platforms like ours setting the new standard,” he said. “Just as mobile phones democratized content creation, we’re democratizing software development.”
As AI continues to advance, Jha foresees a future where anyone with an idea can bring it to fruition without needing a technical background.
