Al-Baraka’s Humanitarian Efforts for Gaza

The president of the “Al-Baraka” Association, Ahmed Al-Ibrahimi, stated to ” ” that “the association is ready to provide assistance in times of war. Since the Al-Aqsa Flood, five out of the 100 trucks that were supposed to enter the sector have been allowed in, while awaiting their turn for clearance at the Rafah crossing.” The “Al-Baraka” Association is one of the prominent organizations active in humanitarian and charitable aid, particularly for Palestine. However, the United States has listed it, along with its president, Al-Ibrahimi, as supporting terrorism, considering this as support for Hamas, which is designated as a terrorist organization by U.S. authorities.

Al-Ibrahimi added, “The association has stocked all available warehouses in Gaza in anticipation of the ceasefire agreement collapsing at any moment, and we have prepared 50,000 tents. Some of these have also entered the sector. Previously, we provided millions of meals and water tanks, in addition to renovating hospitals and drilling wells. The association sponsors more than 30,000 individuals in Gaza.” Al-Ibrahimi emphasized the “need for coordination with Egyptian authorities as a first plan. As for the second plan,” he added, “a message was sent to Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to coordinate the sending of a ship to the port of Al-Arish in Egypt, and also an agreement with the Jordanian authority to bring in aid. We are working hard to make this event successful.”

The efforts of the Al-Baraka Association coincide with official endeavors pledged by Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune months ago, when he confirmed the country’s efforts to build three field hospitals in a record time, following a significant increase in the number of patients and wounded, without neglecting medical equipment. He added, “The humanitarian aid sent by the association since the start of the Israeli aggression on the sector was through three main stages and routes. The first started with the beginning of the aggression, a campaign named “A Hand of Giving and a Hand of Prayer,” which collected 300 tons of aid delivered to the Algerian Red Crescent and sent to the sector in coordination with Algerian authorities and the People’s National Army to Al-Arish Airport in Egypt, and entered the Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing in the early days of the aggression.”

He further mentioned, “Coordination was carried out with humanitarian institutions working with the association for years within the Gaza Strip. This initiative allowed for the implementation of relief and humanitarian projects, where the association established a camp in its name. Throughout the aggression, the association distributed food and medicine and built camps in coordination with civil society institutions in Gaza, supported by the Algerian people.”

The spokesperson confirmed that the association is in daily contact with official authorities regarding the transfer of aid, and that the fundraising campaign is ongoing. The primary goal after the war is reconstruction and road opening in coordination with the Arab International Relief Authority to help Gaza and with partners within the sector.

It is worth mentioning that charitable work directed towards Gaza in Algeria enjoys wide popular support, with donations, whether monetary or otherwise, reaching charitable associations and from there to Gaza through official channels authorized to transport them. Donation campaigns continue across the nation in all 58 Algerian provinces, where associations with this characteristic receive all support and assistance, embodying the bond between the two countries and the strong relations between the two peoples.
