The first half ended in a 1-1 draw, with Al-Nassr taking the lead through a goal by Sadio Mane in the 11th minute, and Steven Berghuis equalizing for Al-Ittihad in the 16th minute. In the second half, Portuguese player Joao Felix added the second goal for Al-Nassr in the 61st minute. Soon after, Felix scored another goal, the third for Al-Nassr, in the 67th minute, but the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) intervened, indicating an infraction, leading to the goal being disallowed.
Al-Nassr entered the match with high spirits after making significant signings during the summer transfer window, aiming to win their first official title with their Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, and to make up for last season’s failures. Al-Ittihad participated in the Super Cup by virtue, while Al-Nassr is competing after finishing third in the Saudi League last season.
Hong Kong is hosting the tournament from August 19 to 23, as part of a strategy to organize some editions outside the Kingdom to enhance the international presence of local tournaments.
