He continued, indicating in statements to ‘Sputnik,’ on the sidelines of the second day of the ‘EDEX 2025’ exhibition, the company’s excellence in manufacturing both military and civilian ships. Among the most notable exhibits for this year is a model of a ship with a towing capacity of 190 tons, which is being built for the Suez Canal Authority. The two ships will be designed and built entirely locally, reflecting the shipyard’s ability to localize marine technology.
He added that the company has executed prominent military projects for the Egyptian navy, including frigates with German technology and Gwendy ships with French technology, all designed and manufactured with full participation of Egyptian labor.
Furthermore, ‘Alexandria Shipyard’ manufactures commercial ships of various sizes, including ‘Ro-Ro’ ships with capacities ranging from 6,000 to 10,000 tons for local companies.
Al-Arusi pointed out that ‘Alexandria Shipyard’ aims to localize the local shipbuilding industry and reduce dependency on imports, affirming that the company collaborates with global partners as part of efforts to bring in technology that serves its interests, maintaining a good and stable relationship with its Russian partners, within a long history of cooperation between Egypt and foreign countries in the maritime industries.
Rear Admiral Engineer Yasser Ahmed Al-Arusi concluded his remarks by saying that ‘Alexandria Shipyard’ is distinguished by its ability to combine high quality in both military and civilian manufacturing, with continuous development of its operations to meet the needs of the local and regional market.
