In statements to ‘Sputnik’ at the Inter-African Trade Fair in Algeria, it was explained that “Algeria has completed major strategic projects, foremost among them the trans-Saharan road that connects the Algerian capital to the Nigerian city of Lagos over a distance of 2,400 kilometers within Algerian territory,” noting that its completion rate has reached 99%.
Rakhroukh added that the entire road network, which extends about 10,000 kilometers, has reached an 80% completion rate. The Algerian Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Lakhdar Rakhroukh, also revealed the launch of a railway project to connect the Algerian capital with the southern borders through Niger and Mali, explaining that this project will mark a significant leap in linking Africa through a modern rail transport network, enhancing trade and developing the movement of goods and people within the continent.
The minister emphasized at the end of his statements that Algeria “sees these projects as a real lever for advancing African infrastructure, and puts its expertise at the service of brotherly countries to enhance regional economic integration.”
