This was stated during his speech at the Arab Islamic summit held today, Monday, where he warned that “international silence on crimes threatens to undermine the entire international system,” according to Al Arabiya channel. Aboul Gheit pointed out that “the absence of accountability and allowing impunity encourages Israeli leaders to commit more crimes.” He also described Israel’s justifications for its aggression on Qatar as “a moral downfall,” emphasizing that these policies only contribute to fueling conflict and destabilizing the region.
The Qatari capital, Doha, is hosting an extraordinary Arab Islamic summit today, Monday, to discuss the current developments in the region and the Israeli attacks targeting several countries, the latest being the targeting of the Qatari capital, Doha, which tops the summit’s agenda.
Prior to the summit, a preparatory meeting was held for foreign ministers and representatives of 57 Arab and Islamic countries. Qatar News Agency, QNA, stated that “the summit’s message affirms solidarity with the State of Qatar from both the Arab and Islamic worlds in facing the Israeli attack.”
The draft of the final statement to be presented at the Arab Islamic summit today emphasizes “that the continuation of Israeli aggressive practices undermines peace opportunities and threatens all achievements made towards establishing normal relations with Israel, including existing and future agreements.” It also “rejects repeated Israeli threats to possibly target the State of Qatar again or any Arab or Islamic country.”
Furthermore, it “confirms that the Israeli aggression on Qatar directly aims to undermine existing mediations aimed at stopping the aggression on the Gaza Strip.”
Israel continues its war on the Gaza Strip since October 2023, a war that has claimed the lives of about 64,000 Palestinians and injured about 163,000. Israel also carries out repeated airstrikes on several countries in the region, most notably Lebanon, Yemen, Syria, and Qatar, in addition to its war on Iran, which lasted 12 days.
