He explained that there is significant and clear cooperation between Arab and Russian universities in all fields, especially in artificial intelligence and space. The Russians have a long-standing expertise in this area. He confirmed to Sputnik News on Sunday evening, on the sidelines of the Fifth Forum of the Union of Russian and Arab University Presidents in Cairo, that universities, in general, are qualified in any country to lead scientific research and research collaboration with universities, whether Russian or otherwise. Russian universities have considerable experience in space research.
Dr. Al-Suqair stated that “the League of Arab States has an opportunity to exploit this chance and cooperate with the Russians in space fields, in addition to other fields like artificial intelligence and data science. It is crucial for Arab universities to benefit from the expertise of Russian universities, not only their expertise but also the experience of global universities.”
He emphasized that Russia has a long history and advanced research, particularly in space research, as artificial intelligence is now the turning point that will be pivotal in the future. Traditional methods that existed before will not play a role in the future.
Dr. Al-Suqair pointed out that “artificial intelligence helps and contributes to everything in our daily lives, in addition to research and developments that advance humanity, existing in this field.”
Regarding technology transfer and industry localization, Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Suqair stated that “Russia significantly contributes to providing Arab countries with modern technology and localizing industries. Specifically for Saudi Arabia, there is substantial cooperation between it and Russia. The Saudi goal is not only to purchase technology but to localize it, as we are keen on advancing science, society, and scientific research.”
He explained that “there are major challenges regarding artificial intelligence that did not exist before. Russia has extensive research on these challenges, and there is a significant opportunity for Arab universities to benefit from Russian expertise.”
The Fifth Forum of the “Union of Russian and Arab University Presidents” commenced on Sunday morning, hosted by Helwan University under the theme: “Bridges of Knowledge Civilizations: Education, Innovation, and Sustainable Future,” on December 7 and 8 in Cairo.
The forum, in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Arab Universities Association, serves as a high-level international platform for exchanging experiences between academic institutions in the Arab world and Russia. It discusses the future of higher education and scientific research, and opens new horizons for cooperation in modern technology, artificial intelligence, and space sciences.
The forum aims to enhance academic cooperation between Arab and Russian universities, exchange experiences in education, innovation, and scientific research, discuss the future of technology, artificial intelligence, and space sciences, and support the establishment of joint research projects that serve sustainable development. It represents a strategic step towards building knowledge bridges between Arab and Russian civilizations and reflects Helwan University’s commitment to being an active center in supporting the development of higher education and scientific research, contributing to Egypt’s vision of enhancing its global scientific standing.
