The Syrian foreign ministry announced that Damascus and Washington are collaborating to establish security agreements with Israel, as part of a stability roadmap unveiled earlier Tuesday, supported by the US and Jordan for the violence-stricken Sweida province.

On Tuesday, Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani detailed a plan, endorsed by Jordan and the United States, aimed at restoring peace in the Druze-majority Sweida province, which experienced severe sectarian violence in July.

“The United States, in coordination with the Syrian government, aims to establish security arrangements with Israel regarding southern Syria, addressing the legitimate security concerns of both Syria and Israel, while emphasizing Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the foreign ministry stated, outlining the roadmap.

The province has been tense since the clashes, which, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, resulted in over 2,000 deaths, including 789 Druze civilians “executed summarily by defense and interior ministry forces”.
