During the Dubai World Congress for Self-Driving Transport, Binary presented its live passenger OS operating on an autonomous vehicle. This system, tailored for passenger engagement, was coupled with specialized hardware known as Binary TV.
With Binary installed, passengers can view and share their journey, send navigation instructions to the driver, access in-ride voice translation in over 20 languages, and seek assistance. Additionally, they can enjoy videos, music, podcasts, play games, and explore audio tours, all through a user-friendly, touch-based interface.
“As LiDAR, radar, sensors, AI, and cameras come together, the focus shifts from mobility to experience. The experience, rather than mobility itself, will be the determining factor for success,” stated Santosh Sarma, co-founder and CEO of Binary. “Our unique passenger OS transforms idle travel time into valuable time by providing utilities, information, entertainment, safety, and services, akin to top-tier in-flight entertainment, within the vehicle.”
Intel forecasts a burgeoning Passenger Economy worth approximately $7 trillion by 2050, with $200 billion deriving from innovative in-ride applications and services, the space Binary is developing for. Currently, Binary operates extensively in the UAE, with over 2,000 taxis serving millions of passengers monthly, demonstrating the feasibility of deploying, updating, monetizing, and evaluating a passenger-centric OS like any modern platform.
For fleet operators, Binary offers new revenue streams, improved passenger experiences, and built-in feedback mechanisms, all on a platform designed to integrate seamlessly with most taxi dispatch and rideshare app ecosystems.
