BITS Pilani Dubai Campus (BPDC) recently wrapped up the 22nd BITS Pilani Sports Festival (BSF) 2025, reaffirming its status as the UAE’s premier university sports event.
The five-day festival welcomed over 5,500 student athletes from 39 universities and 1,200 students from 20 schools, making it one of the most diverse and lively editions in BSF history.
The closing ceremony featured Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar as the chief guest, with Dr. Eesa Mohammed Bastaki, President of the University of Dubai, as the guest of honor.
Gavaskar remarked, “I’m thrilled to be part of the UAE’s finest university sports festival. During my college years, cricket wasn’t a career path, but it taught me dedication, discipline, and determination—the three D’s.”
“By embracing the three D’s, you can achieve any dream you pursue. For those who didn’t win today, keep striving, learning, and stay focused on your goals.”
His inspiring words deeply resonated with the attendees, highlighting BSF’s commitment to fostering discipline, resilience, and ambition among young athletes.
BITS Pilani Dubai Campus excelled with outstanding performances, clinching the Overall Championship Trophy with 7 gold and 7 silver medals.
The tournament also celebrated impressive victories from UAE universities: RIT in Basketball Boys, University of Dubai in Volleyball Boys, Manipal University in Cricket Boys and Throwball, Westford University in Cricket Girls, Middlesex University in Chess Girls, and UOWD in Tennis Boys.
In the schools’ division, Winchester showcased exceptional multi-sport skills to claim the overall championship. DPS Sharjah, NIMS Dubai, SIS, Westminster, Cambridge, and Wise India also delivered strong performances, underscoring the growing competitiveness of the school-level tournament.
