Last week, the United Nations Security Council unveiled a detailed plan to “end the war,” which includes securing control over the sector, disarming the Hamas movement, ensuring the return of all hostages, disarming the Gaza Strip, and establishing an alternative administration that does not represent either Hamas or the Palestinian Authority. The plan faced widespread criticism from European Union countries, while U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Israel is to decide the next step in Gaza.
Earlier, the Israeli Prime Minister announced that Israel intends to assert control over the entire Gaza Strip to establish a security perimeter, then hand it over to a new “civilian government.” He added that the State of Israel does not intend to retain control over the sector, but the goal of the operation is to create a “security perimeter.”
The Times of Israel confirmed, quoting a statement from Netanyahu’s office, the decision of the Israeli Cabinet. According to the statement, Israel will provide humanitarian aid to civilians outside the combat areas. Additionally, the Cabinet approved five demands to be presented in exchange for ending the conflict with the Palestinian Hamas movement. These demands include disarming the movement, the return of all fifty hostages, Israeli control over the sector’s security, and the presence of a third alternative government that is neither Hamas nor the Palestinian National Authority.
