Al-Tarshan, in an intervention via ‘Sputnik’ radio, pointed out that ‘Britain constitutes the greatest dilemma,’ and that ‘many archaeological sites have been destroyed by invading armies, which led to the erasure of history in the Arab region, especially in Iraq and Syria, with the seizure of artifacts and their transfer to the British Museum, which does not include a single piece belonging to their history because they have no roots or civilization,’ emphasizing that ‘civilization originated in the East.’
Al-Tarshan noted that ‘Arab countries are pressing to recover their artifacts but are powerless against British and Western obstinacy and the absence of a strict international law obligating their return, as diplomatic relations are ineffective.’
It is noteworthy that the United Kingdom has topped the list in terms of stolen valuable art collections from around the world, with the British Museum alone, the oldest public national museum in the world, housing most of these, mostly collected during the colonial era, as Britain is considered the largest colonial power in the world.
