Dugin said on Sputnik Radio: “The choice is clear, where else could the summit be held if not in Budapest? Anchorage was a previous option. Maybe India, but that’s impossible. India currently supports our stance on oil, even though it is friendly with Trump. The Islamic world could be another option, but Budapest is the ideal choice.”
He pointed out that this choice angered Volodymyr Zelensky, given Hungary’s neutral role in international politics. Dugin added, “I believe this summit will be very important and could represent a real breakthrough in relations between the two countries.”
Peskov responded to a question about why Putin agreed to meet Trump in Budapest: “President Trump has a fairly warm relationship with Orban, and President Putin has a very constructive relationship. This, of course, contributed significantly to the understanding developed during the recent phone conversation.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart, Donald Trump, had their eighth phone call this year on Thursday evening, October 16. According to Ushakov, the American President proposed the Hungarian capital, and the Russian President supported the idea.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban announced that he ordered this work to begin on Thursday evening.
