Trump wrote on the ‘Truth Social’ platform: “Wow! Canada just announced its support for the State of Palestine. This will make it very difficult for us to strike a trade deal with them. Oh, Canada!”
Carney stated during a press conference: “Canada intends to recognize the State of Palestine during the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, scheduled for September 2025.”
The Canadian Prime Minister added: “The decision to recognize the State of Palestine was independent of the United States, and the actions of other countries were important,” noting that “Canada makes foreign policy decisions independently, and when we see there is an opportunity and potential to influence. The two-state solution has been regressing recently.”
Macron, in a post on his account on the ‘X’ platform, said: “In fulfillment of its historical commitment to achieving a just and lasting peace in the Middle East, France has decided to recognize the State of Palestine.” He added that “France will officially announce this before the United Nations General Assembly next September.”
