Catherine: A Tale of Resilience and Fashion

A young fashion designer and model loses her leg in an accident, and many think her dreams are shattered. She steps away from the fashion industry, turns to baking cakes to make ends meet, and cares for her one constant companion — her mother. When her mother becomes seriously ill and the medical expenses mount, a final opportunity arises: a high-stakes fashion show. To support her mother, she must return to the runway and face her painful past. This is the story of Catherine.

Filmed entirely in the UAE on a modest budget, the movie uses the fashion world — with its rehearsals, fittings, and tense final walks — as the backdrop for a genuine, everyday struggle. The screen features UAE influencers portraying artists, delivering performances that are authentic and emotionally resonant.

Sajir Valiyedath

Writer-director Sajir Valiyedath is recognized for making the most of every shot with clean framing, meticulous lighting, and genuine acting.

“I must connect with the movie first; then the audience will,” he says.

“We crafted each scene for clarity and emotion — no extra noise, just truth.” His straightforward goal is women’s empowerment with dignity, achieved not through speeches but through small steps that enable a woman to stand tall once more.

The producer’s resolve: risk-taking, discipline, and perseverance

Karthik Vijayamani, the producer and an avid Rajinikanth fan, instills a “mass with discipline” approach in his ventures and this film. The project faced genuine challenges — last-minute cancellations, tight timelines, and on-the-fly plan adjustments — all while maintaining quality.

“We even shot the climax four times,” Karthik shares. “If it wasn’t right, we did it again. The film had to meet the director’s standards. Quality was paramount.”

Catherine remains humble and human, offering no easy miracles. It portrays effort, love, and choice — the choice to try again, publicly, against the odds.

The movie is set to release in UAE theaters on October 26, 2025.
