A statement issued by the ministry on Saturday stated: “The United States has informed the guarantor states of the peace agreement in Gaza of reliable reports indicating an imminent violation of the ceasefire by Hamas against the residents of the Gaza Strip.” The statement added that the aim is to protect the residents of the strip.
Earlier on Saturday, the authorities in Gaza said that Israel violated the ceasefire in the strip 47 times since its announcement, resulting in the death of 38 people and the injury of 143 others.
Last Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan signed a declaration regarding the ceasefire in Gaza.
Under the agreement, Hamas released all 20 hostages who had been held in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, in exchange for Israel’s release of 1,718 detainees from Gaza and 250 Palestinian prisoners from its jails.
