Channing Tatum recently revealed he sustained an injury during a “nude scene” in his latest film, Roofman. Portraying fugitive Jeffrey Manchester, Tatum mentioned the scene left him with a lasting scar.
As reported by Deadline, Tatum recounted in a magazine interview how the mishap occurred while filming one of the movie’s most awkward and demanding scenes.
“It wasn’t ideal because I was completely naked, meaning no protection like pads,” Tatum explained. “Being wet and soapy made it quite chaotic.”
In this scene, Jeffrey is discovered showering in a Toys ‘R’ Us by store manager Mitch, played by Peter Dinklage. Chaos ensues as the nude fugitive attempts to escape, stumbling before scaling a wall to hide.
“I got injured jumping onto the bike rack and then had to perform a comedic jump into my hiding spot,” he recounted. “I didn’t clear the edge, resulting in a leg gash. The scar remains, and we just glued it and continued shooting.”
He also noted the awkwardness of filming, particularly concerning camera angles.
“The most memorable part was asking Derek [Cianfrance, the director], ‘How will we shoot this? Every angle exposes something.’ He replied, ‘We’ll figure it out.’ I thought, ‘What does that mean? You’re positioned right behind me as I jump. You’ll get a full view,'” he added.
Roofman, which debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this year, also stars Kirsten Dunst as Leigh, a Toys ‘R’ Us employee who connects with Tatum’s character. The film is now available in theaters.
