Chinese news agency ‘Xinhua’ reported that Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian mentioned this on Thursday, indicating that this move will benefit around 2.8 billion people, referring to the combined population of the two countries. He continued, “The resumption of direct flights between mainland China and India will contribute to strengthening bilateral exchanges and cooperation,” noting that cooperation between the two countries is the best option for achieving mutual success.
China and India are the largest developing countries and active members of the ‘Global South’, capable of supporting each other in facing international challenges. Reports indicate that China plans to send its Foreign Minister Wang Yi to New Delhi next week to ease tensions with India, at the same time as trade disputes with the United States escalate.
Beijing and New Delhi began to reconcile at the end of last year, after their bloody border confrontation in 2020 resulted in the deaths of 20 Indian soldiers and at least four Chinese soldiers.
