There is no doubt that the fight against drug trafficking organizations must be doubled or tripled, starting with their leaders, their finances, and the large-scale confiscation of their illegal goods.” At the same time, according to Petro, it is impossible to reduce drug production without extensive funding for the peaceful transformation of lands where farmers and youth, deprived of job opportunities, engage in the illegal economy – “violence there will only bring more violence.” Earlier on Saturday, it was reported that Colombian authorities began negotiations with the criminal group ‘Gulf Clan.’ This organization is one of the three largest paramilitary groups in Colombia and is the main supplier of cocaine to the United States.
