India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has given Indigo a one-time 24-hour extension to answer a show-cause notice initially issued on December 6, 2025.

The new deadline is 8pm IST on December 8, 2025. The DGCA has stated that no more extensions will be allowed. They warned that if Indigo fails to provide a thorough response by the deadline, the DGCA will proceed ex-parte, as reported by Reuters.

Previously, the DGCA issued a show-cause notice to IndiGo’s CEO Pieter Elbers, citing the airline for significant operational disruptions, highlighting “major lapses in planning, oversight, and resource management,” according to ANI.

The notice requires the CEO to explain the disruptions following a week of widespread cancellations and delays that have left thousands of passengers stranded across India.
