DHL DHLn.DE, which manages Germany’s postal services through Deutsche Post, announced it will pause the acceptance and transport of parcels and postal items containing goods from business clients headed to the United States after August 25.

The company explained, “The reason for these likely temporary restrictions is the new procedures mandated by US authorities for postal shipments, which differ from previously applicable regulations,” in a statement released on Friday, August 22.

On April 20, DHL Express, a branch of Germany’s Deutsche Post, announced it would halt global business-to-consumer shipments over $800 to individuals in the US due to US customs regulatory updates that have extended the clearance process.

The notice on the company’s website was undated, but metadata indicated it was compiled on Saturday.

DHL attributed the suspension to new US customs regulations requiring formal entry processing for all shipments exceeding $800. Previously, the minimum was $2,500 before the change on April 5.
