The new study indicated that leaving water exposed overnight may make it susceptible to dust, fine particles, and even bacteria. The study explained that stagnant water could encourage the growth of microbes and alter its chemical composition, which explains the “dull” or “changed” taste of water in the morning.
Experts add that heat or light near the bed may accelerate these changes, while the presence of small insects in the environment may increase the likelihood of contamination.
The study noted that to avoid these risks, doctors recommend using a tightly sealed bottle or relying on drinking sufficient amounts of water during the day to reduce the need for hydration at night.
According to the study published on the “Al Arabiya” website, these simple changes are an effective way to maintain the habit of drinking water at the bedside without affecting health.
