The upcoming spy-action thriller Dhurandhar by Aditya Dhar faces a legal challenge as the parents of the late Major Mohit Sharma have petitioned the Delhi High Court to halt the release of the Ranveer Singh-led film.

The petitioners claim the movie portrays real-life individuals without permission and urge India’s Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to review the film before approving it.

Advocate Roopenshu Pratap Singh, representing the late officer’s parents, told ANI that the High Court has directed the CBFC to “consider all points raised by the petitioner” prior to making a decision.

“The certification hasn’t been issued yet, so the CBFC should consider all concerns raised by the petitioner or the parents of Major Mohit Sharma. They also suggested that if there are any army-related issues, the relevant army authority should review the points and submit them to the CBFC,” Singh said.

“Our objection is that since the teaser’s September release, it highlights only one real-life character, Major Mohit Sharma… The story primarily focuses on him,” Singh added.

“This is the main concern raised by the petitioner. The matter has been addressed, with all responses presented to the court today. The instructions specifically target the CBFC. If necessary, we can submit another injunction application in the main petition. We still have that legal route available,” Singh mentioned.

Dhurandhar is a spy-action thriller penned, directed, and co-produced by Aditya Dhar. Produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, the film features Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal, with Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi in supporting roles.
