The South China Morning Post added that on July 19, a 40-year-old diver named Wang from Hunan Province, central China, went missing just five minutes after diving with a friend in a river. Rescuers quickly launched a search operation, but the initial search was unsuccessful.
The man survived by taking refuge in a cave void – an air pocket that allowed him to breathe, despite being nine meters underwater. Later, the surviving diver, Wang, said he accidentally entered the cave, completely lost track of time, and survived by eating raw fish.
The newspaper notes that after the rescue, Wang was in good condition and even walked to the ambulance on his own.
