Emphasizing the need for a just peace based on a two-state solution, both leaders strongly opposed any Israeli annexation plans in the West Bank or Occupied Palestinian Territory.

In September, three Israeli officials mentioned possible annexations in response to France and other countries recognizing a Palestinian state.

Such annexation steps would likely face broad disapproval from Palestinians and Arab and Western nations.

Sheikh Mohamed and King Abdullah also condemned forced displacement of Palestinians and settlement expansions, warning these actions threaten the two-state solution and regional stability.

Later on Sunday, King Abdullah was seen off at Al Bateen Airport by Sheikh Mohamed and senior officials.
