The organization stated in a statement: “We are outraged by the continued military violence killing our Palestinian colleagues.” Nurse Hussein Al-Najjar, a father of three children, had been working at the international organization’s medical clinic in Deir al-Balah and Khan Younis since January of last year. His sister-in-law and nephew were injured in the same airstrike. Al-Najjar is the thirteenth medic from Doctors Without Borders to be killed since the war on the Gaza Strip began.

The latest data from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs indicates that at least 540 aid workers have been killed in the ongoing Israeli attack on the Gaza Strip, which has lasted for nearly two years. Since October 7, 2023, the war on Gaza has resulted in the death of more than 65,000 Palestinians and around 165,000 injured, according to data from the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza.
