Dubai is gearing up for a historic return as it hosts the Asian Youth Para Games for the second time, welcoming 1,500 young Para athletes from 35 countries—the largest participation ever.
After a successful event in 2017, the 2025 Games will showcase 11 sports across 8 top-notch venues from December 10-13, reinforcing Dubai’s reputation as a global leader in Para sports.
The Organising Committee has announced December 10 as the date for the Opening Ceremony at the Dubai Club for People of Determination Stadium.
All preparations are complete for this prestigious continental event, hosted under the patronage of Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE National Olympic Committee and Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council.
Athletes will compete in Para athletics, Para swimming, boccia, Para powerlifting, Para table tennis, Para archery, goalball, Para badminton, wheelchair basketball, Para taekwondo, and Para Armwrestling, which is making its debut at the Asian Youth Para Games.
Among the nations, Iran, the top medal winners from Bahrain 2021 with 51 golds, will send the largest team with 195 athletes, highlighting their commitment to youth development and Para sport excellence.
The host nation UAE will field 55 athletes, showcasing the growth of Para sports in the country and the dedication of organizations like the Asian Paralympic Committee and Dubai Club for People of Determination in promoting regional inclusion.
This announcement was made at a press conference on Thursday at the Dubai Sports Council, where over 40 sponsors and partners were officially introduced.
Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council, commended the Organising Committee and sponsors. “We are thrilled that Dubai’s hosting of this major sporting event coincides with our 54th UAE National Day celebrations—a day symbolizing unity and celebrating our journey of excellence and achievement in all fields.
“Hosting this global sporting event again, following the success of the 2017 edition, reaffirms the UAE’s outstanding organizational skills, the world’s confidence in us, and the remarkable talents of our citizens, evident in every event we host.”
